You often hear the terms work, job, and career. While they are part of earning a living, they are different.
Work is any useful activity, For example: you rake leaves, you collect recycling materials, you do errands, you wait on customers. These are all types of work.
Each of these work activities is called a task. All the different tasks that a person does to earn a living make up a job. A bigger word for job is occupation. For example a man may be a gardener. Gardening is his job. He gets paid for doing it. His work as a gardener includes many tasks. Mowing grass, trimming bushes, and hoeing weeds are some of the tasks.
Career refers to the work a person does and the jobs that a person holds over a number of years. Most people have many different jobs during their lifetime. They may change jobs to make more money. They may change jobs because they find a job they like better than the one they have now. They may change jobs for many reasons.
All of the work you do helps you decide what type of job that you would like. All the jobs that you have help you decide on a career.
